This colourful production is a musical celebration of South Afrikan musical theatre through song and dance. The narrative of hope is woven together with original music from our cast of students and an eclectic array of hit songs from musicals such as King Kong, Sarafina, Lion King and Iphi Ntombi. From the village hills of the Eastern Cape to the dusty mines of Johannesburg, Afrika Sings!

Founded in 2021, the Sonwa Sakuba Institute for the Performing Arts is an effective centre of activity for students gearing towards a professional career within the performing arts industry. The institution provides structured and inclusive access to programmes in a variety of art forms where students of all ages and backgrounds can take risks, work beyond their limitations and take their talents to the next level.
The standard of training at the institution is set at an intensive level that works to meet the demands of the international arts industry with classes taught by our highly experienced faculty of teachers and industry professionals. Striving towards creating a safe creative space of excellence in training and performance, the institution aims to bring a new generation of versatile, highly skilled and self sustainable professionals into the performing arts industry.
