ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Born Amanda Benedicta Antony in South Africa’s Eastern Cape on July 24th 1993, Amanda Black is a multi-platinum selling and multiple Award-winning singer/songwriter, youth leader and a powerful voice in women empowerment and in the fight against inequality and gender-based violence.

Amanda Black first came to the limelight as a contestant on the popular TV Show, Idols South Africa, where she contested 3 times, only breaking ground in season 11 where she made the final 7. Almost a year later, she took the industry by storm after the release of her critically acclaimed hit single and debut album Amazulu in 2016, an inspiring and easily relatable soulful piece which went on to get Amanda numerous nominations and wins at several music awards, including 3 South Africa Music Awards, 2 Metro Awards and a BET International artist of the year nomination.

Titled after her first single, Amanda’s Debut album was certified platinum only three weeks after its release. Amanda then went on to appear in numerous prestigious stages such as the Cape Town International Jazz festival in 2018, headlining an array of her musical concerts including the Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts in 2018 and the prestigious RMB Starlight Classics in 2020 amongst many. In 2019, she released her triumphant sophomore album titled Power, which in Black’s fashion won Best Album at the South African Afro Awards in 2021.

Amanda recently released a new single titled Kutheni Na featuring the Award-winning Kwesta, from her much anticipated recent third album titled Mnyama where she reflects on the onset of the Covid pandemic and the mental health state of the country.

An inspired story teller, consummate performer and Afro – Rockstar! Amanda Black is a force to be reckoned with and a global success story in the making.
