We’ll celebrate and mourn, calling on the collective spirit of humanity to look at the why’s and how’s of things. There will be some laughter and some reflection but, above all, there will be music: a bass and a voice. And yes, music can be more than just entertainment – so please do join virtually until we are allowed to be in the same room. And don’t forget to sing along!

Ariel and Juana is a double bass and voice duet established in 2016 by bassist Ariel Zamonsky and Vocalist Juana Pires Rafael.
Their music merges aspects of several styles, mainly jazz, Latin and indigenous, aiming both to acknowledge these genres and their cultural background; while providing an accessible and current approach through songs that address modern life issues.

Their interpretations evoke a variety of feelings and sometimes include humor as tool for reflection.

In their performances they have featured many South African greats including Andile Yenana, Afrika Mkhize, Yonela Mnana, Reza Khota, Salim Washington, Abraham Mennen, amongst others.
They have toured South Africa extensively and have also performed in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Eswatini, Lesotho and Argentina.
