Welcome the three day Dakawa Jazz Festival into your home! The performances below are available for you to enjoy until the end of July 2021.

The first day took place on the 14th July and featured Urban Connection, Alfred Nzo (Modern Jazz – Trio Vision Jazz Band) and OR Tambo (Zammore Jazz Band).

The second day of performances featured Thabo Lukubeni, Afro Grooves, Soul 2 Soul and the MBM Youth Band.

The third and and last day of the Dakawa Jazz Festival featured Malizole Fololo, Sarah Baartman and Nathi Mankayi.

SOUL2SOUL

Soul2Soul is an 8 member group based in Komani, Eastern Cape.  The covers a range of genres in cover versions from contemporary music including Reggae, R&B, Soul, Jazz, Afro-pop and Old School, performing to all age groups in three of the national languages, ie English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa.

By God’s graceSoul2 Soul has been performing together for 5 years with a career highlight in 2018 –  performing as the curtain raiser, for Afrikaans singer, Refentse at the Queenstown Tamboekie Festival.

AFRO GROOVE

Afro Groove SA is a Motherwell, Port Elizabeth based cover band/ organisation whose initial intent, when Mawuzole Mabulu formed it in July 2017, was primarily incorporating self-taught instrumentalists from around town and music students from Nelson Mandela Bay University for advancement purposes. Currently the band has over 15 members:

DAKAWA –  O.R. THAMBO

ZAMMORE

Zammore is a 7 piece band based in uMthatha, writing and performing original music. The band was formed by vocalists Nolwazi Njanani, Luyanda Magazi and Daisy Molotsi, pianists Phambile Ngwane and Blessing Mahlambi, drummer Musa Maki, and Busisa Dlulane on bass. The band is managed by Mthandeni Koyana.

The band, established in 2010, has gone on to record and release a number of singles  most notably Themba Lam and more recently Eduze receiving airplay on mainstream South African radio stations. Zammore is  managed under the Mthatha Arts Academy umbrella and affiliated to the Mthatha Community Arts Centre, where they are heavily involved in developmental programmes and mentoring young local artists.
