Mthokozisi Zulu is a Cum Laude Drama graduate from the Durban University of Technology. His theatrical productions include ‘Peter-Pan’, ‘Boesman and Lena’, ‘Waiting for Godot’, ‘The African Passion’, ‘The Diary of Adam and Eve’, ‘Super Mokoena’, ‘Mashu- The Musical’, ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’, ‘Sinbad the Sailor’, ‘The Plays That Goes Wrong’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Charlotte’s Web’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, and ‘Crook’s Eye’. Mthokozisi represented South Africa at the Augenblic Mal Theatre Festival in Berlin and was chosen to facilitate the Next Generation Programme at the Assitej World Congress. He has been awarded the Mercury Durban Theatre Award, and in 2020 he was nominated for the Broadway World Awards for Performer Of The Decade.
His film productions include, ‘Everyone is a Suspect’, ‘Mob Justice’, ‘Judge Thenjiwe Khambule’, ‘Umgcagco Wezinyembezi’, and ‘Meet the Khambules’. He represented Africa at the Starke Stücke Arts Residency in Germany where he co-created a film titled ‘Lions and Liquids’. Mthokozisi was the Assistant Director in the 2019 young performers project, ‘Curtain Up’, in which he also played the lead role. He also wrote and directed the South African adaptation of ‘In-Control’ which toured around schools in KwaZulu-Natal. Mthokozisi wrote and directed ‘FED’ which had one night at Joburg Theatre and two nights at Seabrooke’s Theatre in Durban.
