Gallery Sessions is produced by the Standard Ovation 2020 award winners – 44 on Long Productions. The creative team have threaded together 12 women titles shot in the warm art gallery inside the iconic 44 on Long theatre in Long Street Cape Town, South Africa. All the titles are original work by the artist’s as we enjoy nurturing local talent to write and perform their original pieces. Gallery sessions was created to showcase and celebrate our Capetonian women in the music industry.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Nicolene has been singing since she was 12 years old as part of the church choir. At the age of 17, she started entering competitions, doing karaoke shows, talent shows, and anything to get her name out there. At 21 she started working with a band called Chapter, Nathan Carolus, Trevino Isaacs, Luchester Williams, and Willdrew Maya.
“During that time I learned volumes about music whilst working alongside these musicians and I carry that knowledge with me in all that I do”.
Being a solo artist she has had the pleasure of working with producers NeilT, Edward Herman and a few artists, Black Noise, JeanO, Ebrahim “E.B.I” Inglis (Goodhope FM) , Shaz Ismail (Shaz&B) and Robert Terence Davids ( Bobby Black) with which they collaborated on a few songs. She has also recorded and worked with Adriaan Hellenberg known as Coloured Black on a few songs, also entering Keeno Lee’s Open Mic events which she was one of the three people who won and sang at the Community Chest Carnival (2012) opening for the group Satisfaction now called The District…She also worked with DJ Hamma and performed at Zula Bar having the pleasure of featuring one of Hash One’s (Rap trio from Johannesburg) song Me, You & and these Stage Lights which lead to performances on Expresso and Hectic9Nine.
Joining a female group called Soul Sundae they’ve performed at many events including the Taste Festival, Brandon Leighs’ (Heart FM) old school events, Community Chest Carnivals and more which also lead to performance and interview on a tv show called Taxi Vision on CTV, now venturing as a solo artist yet again she featured on BlackNoise come back single called Black is Back, performed at the Checkers Cheese Festival 2013, performing with and doing backing vocals for Jaz & the Paradox and also performed on Passion Gap a show hosted by Soli Philander, she also accompanied a group named D’VersCT at the One Blood Festival in Port Elizabeth. She continues to work with as many artists as she can.
She also worked at The Jazz Club in Qatar, Doha, Ajman, UAE for 6 months as part of a duo called Nisha alongside Shane Swales, Spain doing two tribute shows namely Disco Divas and Diana Ross and The Supremes (her being Diana Ross in the show) and working with Jayson King as part of the Great Pretenders show traveling to different cities in South Africa and international countries, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco, South Korea, etc. She has grown much more vocally and has expanded her music knowledge and is ready to take on opportunities musically presented to her.
