2020 Standard Bank Ovation Award winner, South African bassist Chadleigh Gowar was eleven years old when he picked up a guitar for the first time. He credits learning to play guitar and bass play by ear, in church, for honing his instinct to improvise and harmonise. Those skills have made him adept at playing both jazz and gospel, the genres he has been playing the most during his decade-long career.

Chadleigh is the current bass player for Kyknet’s “Koortjies met Jonathan Rubain”.

After a successful Season 1 & a special Christmas edition “Kersfees en Koortjies”, season 2 is currently being recorded started airing in April 2021.
