Guilherme Ribeiro

Guilherme Ribeiro studied piano at the Conservatory of the University of the Sacred Heart in Bauru, Brazil, and popular music at the State University of Campinas, UNICAMP. He has performed with most of Brazil’s top jazz musicians and across festivals worldwide, including the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada, North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands and Coachella in the United States. He is currently based in São Paulo where he teaches piano and accordion and lectures jazz studies at Souza Lima & Berklee International College and EMESP.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Brazilian accordionist, pianist, composer and arranger, Guilherme Ribeiro holds a Master’s degree in Musical Performance from UFMG (Minas Gerais Federal University).

Performed alongside Paulo Moura, Raul de Souza, Maurício Einhorn, Gabriel Grossi, Fabiana Cozza, Dominguinhos, João Donato, among many others important Brazilian artists.

Released seven career albums: Calmaria [2010], Que se deseja rever [2012], A deep Surface [2013], Tempo [2015], Facing South [2019] and NUUU! [2019] with trio Marés.

Guilherme teaches piano, accordion, counterpoint and jazz ensemble at Souza Lima Conservatory and EMESP Tom Jobim in São Paulo. Since 2012 he has been teaching accordion and Brazilian music at the Arcevia Jazz Feast in Italy. In the spring of 2020 he’s got a scholarship from Fulbright and attended Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington/USA as a visiting Scholar.

Since 2018 he conducts and writes arrangements for Orquestra Anelo, a jazz big band from Anelo Institute, a non-profit organization that offers free music lessons in the outskirts of city of Campinas.
