Intimacy, perhaps the idea of intimacy transforms/fluctuates according to age, experience and context; through many forms of intimacy we able to build and understand relationships. Intimate with the use/combination of media visuals and physicality explores perspectives on intimacy and intimate bodies. The work lets audiences explore the relationships between dancers’ bodies as they move through space and each other. We explore how the tiniest part in the performer’s body plays a huge role in performance. The intimate relationships between self and body, between two people, a group and the languages we ultimately create

JC Zondi is an MA Theatre Practitioner, graduated from UKZN. Through his works he hopes to question socio-political ideas/traditional ideas and cultures that do not seem to function in the forever changing world. His curiousity about different perspectives of life have helped him create theatre/dance/scripts that speak to a wide audience. It is through art and education that JC wishes to change people’s negative ideas and enhance positive ones. JC Zondi has created multiple works for theatre and dance which includes but not limited to Burn-Out (2016), Nonkululeko (2018), Thembelani (2020), Classifiled (2018) etc. The work in question Intimate was created in 2017 for Jomba1 Fringe Festival in Durban, that it won the inaugural pick of the fringe award. The work continued being performed at the following:

The work as speaks to all those that have an innate feeling of love for self, and for others. Intimate has been a constantly growing work as it is performed, because that is what intimacy is, it is forever fluctuating, ever becoming better.
