This documentary highlights the journey of one of the Free State province’s influential creatives, JahRose Jafta. She’s an international performing poet, writer, author, translator, publisher, library book distributor and art-preneur. She holds awards in her contribution as writer and poet in interviews the Free State communities since 2004 with her poetry voice and written messages roaming nationally, across the African continent, and also in Europe. The documentary also features guest appearances by other South African (Free State based) poets, namely Oratile B.O.M Molale and Thina Thato Lepheana, and aims to inspire audiences and artists through poetry and engaging interviews.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Thuthukani Ndlovu – more popularly known as TK – is a Zimbabwean author, poet, Immersive media enthusiast, digital artist, freelance graphic designer, marketing strategist and art curator who recently completed a qualification in Video and Film production in Bloemfontein, South Africa. He works for the Vrystaat Literature Festival as an assistant coordinator and Pan African Telematic Art Project (PATAP) program manager. He’s the founder and creative director of The Radioactive Blog, a creative, innovative and dynamic organization, operating as an online creative hub and creative consultancy, with the aim to promote and develop a variety of creative stakeholders. In terms of sharing his work, his performance journey spans across Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Zambia, Malawi and South Africa.

To date, he has worked with Creativate Digital Arts Festival – under the banner of the Makhanda National Arts Festival, Fakugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, Harare Litfest, Brighton Digital Festival (in partnership with Urban Flo), Free State Digital Art fest and Tumaini Festival, just to name a few. Thuthukani is also part of The Festival Academy Alumni – after being selected to participate in their Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Johannesburg (South Africa) and Gothenburg (Sweden) in 2018. Nthabiseng JahRose Jafta is an International Performing Poet, Singer, Content developer and Creative Strategist born in the Free State, South Africa. She writes in her home language Sesotho and English, her poems are translated into Spanish, Danish, Mandarin and Braille.

She has published 30 publications ranging from literary journals, Poetry anthologies and Compilations, Novels, Audio books and Children books. She is presently a candidate for a Masters in Creative Writing at Rhodes University. JahRose is the deputy president of NWASA (National Writers Association of South Africa).
