This panel discussion is facilitated by curator, Zodwa Tutani. The panel explores themes including mothering, unwaged labour and the effects of state violence on families; the effects of structural capitalism on workers in mining areas and the consequences of poor state oversight of social and labour plans on communities. Participants include Asanda Benya, Ruth First Fellow and UCT-based academic who worked underground in the mines as part of her Phd work regarding women and labour in Marikana; Khuselwa Dyantyi a former family liaison at the Socio-Economic Rights Institute, where she is currently an attorney; a family member of the Marikana deceased and David Van Wyk a researcher in the platinum belt.
