Robby Collins is a multi-award winning act who is considered one of the most prominent faces of the new generation of South African comedians. Robby has played to some of the biggest audiences in SA with appearances at The Heavy Weight Comedy Jam, Kings and Queens of Comedy and Comedy Central Live at Parkers (as seen on TV!). He is an Emmy nominated comedy writer and has toured South Africa and the States extensively as the opening act for comedy icons Trevor Noah and Dave Chapelle respectively.
Lindy Johnson has rocketed to success after winning the Savanna ‘Show us Your Apples’ Open Mic showdown in 2017. She is one of the freshest and funniest voices to emerge on the scene in years and was also selected by Trevor Noah for his Nationwild show which aired on M-Net and ShowMax. A future superstar!
Kagiso Lediga is a multiple award-winning and celebrated stand-up comedian, actor, writer and director. He is the creator of the pioneering South African comedy sketch show The Pure Monate Show (PMS), and co-creator and show-runner of the two time International Emmy nominated Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola (LNN). Kagiso has created and helmed many original formats which have become hit television series in South Africa, and has been awarded for his work on and off camera. Lediga’s debut film, Catching Feelings was released in May 2018 to a global audience as a Netflix Original. His second feature, Matwetwe (Wizard), is being released in partnership with internationally acclaimed DJ Black Coffee. Kagiso is also the creator, executive producer and head writer of the first African Netflix original, the international smash hit, Queen Sono.
Alan Committie is one of South Africa’s leading comic performers but also know as a writer, director and producer. Over the last 22 years he is best know for starring in and writing his stand-up based one-man shows including The Lying King, Classy Clown, Planet Mirth, Love Factually, The Sound of Laughter and numerous others. But Committie is also remembered for his starring role in the long running Broadway hit show Defending the Caveman (963 performances!). Straight theatre performances include Richard III, Oleanna, Noises off, The Merry Widow, Little Shop of Horrors and Rosentcratz and Guildenstern are Dead. Committie has also directed numerous projects including Offbeat Broadway 5, The Play that goes Wrong, Cracks in the city, Offbeat Broadway 4, The Comics Choice Awards and Not the Midnight Mass: 21 years. Committie is a two times Fleur de Cap Best actor award winner (for Richard III and for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) and received a Naledi theatre Award for best comic performance for Stressed to Kill. He also has a SAFTA award for best supporting actor for his work on Laugh Out Loud. Alan has appeared in numerous stand-up festivals including hosting the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival for 10 of the 15 years it’s been running.
Tumi Morake continues to be a formidable force in the male saturated comedy industry. Since beginning her career in smoky clubs in 2006, she has steadily grown into one of South Africa’s most sought after comedians, earning the title of South Africa’s First Lady of Comedy – not bad for a mother of three and wife of one. Named Free State Icon in 2011, Morake’s edgy brand of comedy has earned her a place as a headliner in comedy festivals all over South Africa. She’s bold, she’s sassy and you simply cannot ignore her. The first woman to host Comedy Central Presents on African soil, Morake has become relentless in her quest to maintain her footing as a comedy tour de force. Not one to be limited by borders, Morake’s comedy has seen her wow audiences in Wimbledeon, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Following the success of her debut one woman show Herstory in 2011, Morake took to Scotland in 2013 to tick off a bucket list item: A one-woman show at the famed Edinburgh Festival. Beyond her comedy, Morake has been the face of major campaigns with Vodacom and Kelloggs. As a producer, her work has been nominated in various categories at the South African Film and Television Awards, which she also hosted in 2013 and 2014. She also hosted the prestigious SAMA Awards (Nigth1) in 2012 and 2013. Morake has also had some critical recognition thrown her way. From being named one of The Free State Province’s Icons, to the Entertainer of the Year at the 2012 Speakers of Note Award. The Tarantino of comedy, Tumi’s crowning glories have been her nominations for coveted Comic of The Year at the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Comic’s Choice Awards. She is a recipient of the the Mboko Women In The Arts Award for Excellence in Comedy 2013. 2015 saw her nominated in the Glamour Woman Of The Year Awards. She was voted You Spectacular Favourite Comedian 2016. Morake’s continental claim to fame began as the host of The Big Brother Hot Room, a comical round up of Big Brother Africa. She also spent two seasons on the judging panel of etv’s She’s The One. Her star continued to rise as host of the ever trending Our Perfect Wedding for a record 3 seasons after a public demand for her return. Rob van Vuuren is a household name in South Africa, he is Twakkie from The Most Amazing Show, the guy who shucksed Shuster in Shucks Tshabalala, the record breaking winner of Strictly Come Dancing, the voice of Takeshi’s Castle Thailand on Comedy Central Africa, Van from Van Der Merwe the star of a host of other film and television shows. He is a multi award winning comedian, having bagged no less than four Standard Bank Ovation Awards for comedy and the Breakthrough Act Award winner at the Comics Choice Awards. He has filmed two Comedy Central Africa specials. He was a finalist in the 2017 You Spectacular Awards in the Category SA’s favourite comedian and his career has taken him to stages all over the country as well as Perth, London, Brighton, Amsterdam, Dubai, Brighton and Edinburgh. His acting work includes Fleur Du Cap and Aardklop Best Actor nominations along with James Cairns and Albert Pretorius for their work in the The Three Little Pigs. He has also won Fleur Du Cap and Woordfees Best Supporting Actor Awards for his portrayal of Nils Krogstadt in Henrik Ibsen’s The Dolls House directed by Christiaan Olwagen. His performance in Louis Viljoen’s one man show; Dangled has earned the show a Silver Standard Bank Ovation Award, the Cape Town Fringe’s Audience Choice Award and the Brighton Fringe Pebble Trust International Touring Bursary. He has also worked as a director, writer and auctioneer and is a sought after master of ceremonies and corporate entertainer. Rob has most recently been nominated for three Fleur Du Cap theatre awards; a best Actor nomination for his portrayal of Clov in Samuel Beckett’s Endgame, a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his portrayal of Ellis and Slater in Sam Shephard’s Curse of the Starving Class both directed by Sylvaine Strike and A Best Performance in a one person show nomination for his portrayal of Poprischin in Louis Viljoen’s Dangled Rob and his wife Dani have written two enormously successful children’s books together and are currently touring with the accompanying show to their second book, Florence and Watson present the Great Pangolin Mystery. Rob stars in Queen Sono, South Africa’s first Netflix commissioned Original Series which reached number 1 across Africa.
