ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Thami Mbongo is a South African actor, drama facilitator, writer-director and arts activist. He went to study Theatre Studies & Cultural Studies at the Community Arts Project (CAP) and then went to UCT Drama Department from 1999 – 2001 where he graduated.
Early this year, he played a lead role in KUMNYAMA on Mzansi Magic production by the Day Dream Films Company.
In 2019, he was seen as Pastor Absalom in Isithembiso on Mzansi Magic and as Langa Madikane in Rhythym City.
Ever since 2001 he has done a number of productions both onstage and on screen.
In 2010 – 2017 he became the artistic director of the Baxter’s Zabalaza Theatre Festival (which received the 2016 Fleur du Cap Innovation in Theatre award) and received the 2016 Western Cape Cultural Affairs Ministerial Award for his contribution to the Arts.
