ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Ndifunuk’viwa”, the words of a song written by Vuyiseka Maguga that not only resonate with listeners of all
colour and creed, but embody her musical adventure.
Quickly putting aside the comments of early high school critics who told her she couldn’t sing, Vuyiseka, now affectionately known as LoveChild chose instead to follow her passion and pursue the call of music. This was no arm chair sport for her, with drive and determination, vision and sacrifice, LoveChild resigned from her job in 2013 to give her full attention to her music. A decision she made with no surety or guarantees, just a girl with a voice and a whole lot of heart.
True to her word LoveChild has been, and continues to be heard by many, playing at festivals and fashion shows, in children’s wards and school halls, from large venues to street corners all across the country. Bringing an offering of captivating melodies and soulful lyrics LoveChild’s music touches the listener at their very core, moving audiences both young and old. Her wholehearted unwavering belief in herself and her mission of music, drives every performance, allowing her listeners space in time to be inspired, and moved.
Winner of the Standard Bank Ovation Award in 2017 LoveChild’s adventure continues, as she steadfastly follows her musical path and proves that if you follow your heart, you will be heard. She performed at the 2018 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz stage where she got that opportunity by public vote. Since then, LoveChild has gone on to grace some of the biggest stages in the country like SABC 2’s Afro Café, Moshito Music Conference, NAF to name but a few.
In 2020, she was one of the first artists to stream one man live shows in order to keep alive and bring about hope during a somewhat devastating time in the artist life and the rest of the world. This idea birthed a concept of hosting live performance shows in her backyard, and streaming them live on Facebook, titled EKHAYA SESSIONS. The name EKHAYA means home in IsiXhosa, which is what these sessions have become to so many local ‘undiscovered’ artists and art lovers alike. The sessions are held fortnightly. Starting Nov 2020, LoveChild closed her music calendar by hosting a one of a kind event in eKasi, titled EKHAYA FESTIVAL. The plan is for the festival to be an annual event, so be sure to check out the artist’s Facebook pages LoveChild Music & eKhaya Sessions for more details.
