‘Vinnie Mak’, born Xola Vincent Makeleni in the late 80s in Brakpan, Gauteng, was raised by his grandmother from a young age. He is a soul and blues vocalist and composer who begun chiselling his skills from the tender age of seven. His first studio recordings in 2004/5 in East London with talented composer and producer Rigby Torrente, achieved an abstract yet soulful EP titled Patience of Progression ,P.O.P . In 2009 he created a hip hop mix tape with Oko Macanda and Xolani Gysman from East London and formed ‘The Best Kept’ (Buffalo City’s Best Kept Secret). With the release of his debut hit single (Ek’seni) he performed in a showcase at Johannesburg’s AFRO-BRU (Maboneng) alongside Nozuko Maphoma (Zu The Hustler) as part of One Shushuday’s Aluta Conitua, a series curated by Asanda Msaki Mvana.
