The Rhodes Theatre is a fully equipped proscenium arch theatre with full counterweight flying facilities. The National Arts Festival uses this venue for larger drama and dance performances. It is part of the Rhodes University Theatre Complex and adjacent to the Box Studio Theatre and the Rhodes Drama Department. There is a coffee bar in the foyer serving a selection of hot and cold snacks, hot and cold beverages.

Wheelchair access is possible. Please contact the Box Office or Tech Office who will make the necessary arrangements.

There is street parking available along Prince Alfred and Somerset Streets.

  • Storage Facility: There is ample storage in the loading bay and workshop.
  • Flying and Rigging: There are 19 counterweight-flying bars rated at 250kg and 4 lighting bars on drill winches. There is a steel grid in the recess area.
