Desert Crossroads – Salym Fayad


The ancient city of Agadez in the Sahara desert in Northern Niger is a hub for migrants who aim to cross the desert on their way to Europe. Every year, thousands die in the desert, thousands die in the Mediterranean. Agadez is the point where the hopes and fears of migrants collide with anti-migrant policies promoted by European powers on African soil, disrupting social, cultural and political dynamics in the region.
