Coming for You
A night that begins with a desire to blow off some steam and surrender to the limitless fun of Braamfontein ends tragically when a “NO” signalled, whispered, shown and then shouted in what feels like a million ways is repeatedly unacknowledged, shrugged off and then outright overridden. And then from hereon this night that may have simply begun with a desire to soothe one’s soul from the daily punches that come with being young in the city, ends with a scar that refuses to heal, in a place that cannot be touched or shown. A young woman is left gathering scattered pieces of a self she no longer identifies with, hoping that putting it out there in confrontation form, even to herself, will help as she now and perhaps forever tries to glue these pieces together.
