EASTERN CAPE SHOWCASE

VISUAL ART

VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION | CREATIVE ACTIVISM

We live in a world that has been much affected by the pandemic and we have all been forced to change the way we were doing things. With that in mind, capacity building interventions were made by the sub-directorate of Visual Arts and Craft. As young artists became increasingly interested in expressing themselves through digital platforms, photography became increasingly relevant.
In our 2023 Visual Arts Exhibition, a group of 8 young women from the districts of the Eastern Cape, will tell their stories through the lens of a camera. Their works will be showcased through an augmented reality element. Visit the Albany Historical Museum foyer to see traditional visual arts meet the creativity of the young artists through the lens of a camera.
Our Artists will use their skills as a voice to create awareness in our communities about the challenges that are faced by our society, including the effects of climate change, social ills, the political landscape, religious matters and many more.
