EASTERN CAPE SHOWCASE

LIT-FEST

As one of the biggest literature festivals in the country, Lit-Fest attracts word and book lovers from across the country. Each year the department makes a deliberate effort to invite people from the literary world with immense experience, and vast depths of knowledge to grace the event. This allows for a great deal of cross pollination of ideas, networking, and information sharing between established and emerging writers. It is gratifying to note that there are a host of new writers who have benefited immensely from this event.

The theme for the 2022 Lit-fest programme is ‘Reflections on John Knox Bokwe’ as the leading light in literature development and a proponent of Social Cohesion and Nation Building. We are privileged to include the likes of Dr S Mahala, a playwright and distinguished author, Professor Phil Ndlela, an eminent scholar and a seasoned academic, and Professor Ncedile Saule, a prolific writer, historian and an eminent scholar. Book launches will occupy a larger space on the programme as we have a number of writers who have been published with the help of the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture.
