Creativate18 – the artistry of technology
Published on 1 May 2018
The Creativate Digital Arts Festival at the 2018 National Arts Festival is a tech-meets-design festival-within-the-Festival that aims to showcase some of the best thinkers and creatives in their fields.
Creativate is a playground for artists who work in the spaces where technology and the arts converge, and the audiences who are inspired by that approach. Creativate will showcase visual artists, designers, gamers, hackers, performers, musicians and composers, and will be a place of collaboration, sharing, inspiration and pushing new boundaries.
“Technology and design have become entwined industries, spawning a new generation of creatives and artists into creative and artistic industries that are more digital than ever before,” says Creativate Curator Toby Shapshak, who has worked alongside Festival CEO Tony Lankester and Executive Producer Ashraf Johaardien to put together the programme for the inaugural edition which runs in Grahamstown Eden Grove from 28 June to 1 July 2018.
