Comedian Chris Mapane is back to turn up the heat with his new one man show, WHAT A TIME. The show follows on the footsteps of his rib cracking debut One Man Show Comedy Hour with Chris Mapane which premiered at NAF 2022. That show was a hit with audiences, his peers and festival management. After his first performance, he became resident MC of SAFM Sundowners and Standard Bank Ovation Awards. In WHAT A TIME, Chris takes you on a comedic journey of what it means to live in interesting times and he’ll have you rolling with laughter

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Chris Mapane is a South African comedian who started his comical journey 17 years ago. Through his tenacity & infectious energy he has managed to entertain and captivate audiences across South Africa, London, Tanzania (Dar Es salaam and Zanzibar), Kenya, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. While keeping audiences on the edge of their chairs he received multiple nominations for the Annual Comics Choice Awards in the Comic of The Year category and a nomination at the Ikusasa Awards for Comedian of the Year, whilst also appearing as regular performer on the Black Only Comedy show reaching 12 000 people per year. Having appeared on shows such as “So you think you are Funny”, mentoring up and coming comedians, starring on a movie Taxi Ride, making guest appearance feature on 2021 Showmax film One Night KwaMxolisi, being a featured host on the SABC’s popular TV show, Selimathunzi he has amassed experience and exposure that is propelling him to a household name. With reviews in publications such as Blaque, GQ and Destiny Magazine (featured “Power of 40”) is a testament to his talent.
Chris Mapane is a current host of Macufe Comedy Festival which he took over from David Kau. Macufe Comedy takes place at the Dome in Bloemfontein for 6000 people, and Chris has been hosting since 2018. Regular Host of Vaal Comedy Festival with 8000 people a year, Host for Soweto International Comedy Festival in Botswana (1000pax) and Lesotho (1000pax) and a well-known headliner for most of the shows he does both public and corporates.
He has 2 South Africa Comics Choice Awards nominations and Ukusasa awards nomination for Comedian of the Year category.
After his show “Comedy Hour with Chris Mapane” at NAF 2022, he toured with sold out shows in Cape Town (Mother City Comedy Festival), Johannesburg, Lesotho, Botswana and recently returned from an East Africa Tour to Kenya (Nairobi) and Tanzania (Dar Es Salaam). At his first appearance at NAF (2022) he became the favorite host and was the resident host of SAFM Sundowners and main night of the Standard Bank Ovation Awards.
