Ovation Award winner Patrick stars as a hapless soap opera doctor who accidentally kills a local crime boss. Directed by award-winning comedian and producer, Aaron McIlroy, YESTERDAY’S HERO is a hilarious insight into minor celebrity – when keeping it real *is* the problem!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Aaron McIlroy And Patrick Kenny swop roles in the new comedy drama Yesterday’s Hero. Festival icon McIlroy has been coaxed from the stage into the directors seat so writer/director Kenny can have turn to play with the audience. The McIlroy and Kenny collaboration has seen a series of hit one-man plays performed by McIlroy at the National Arts Festival: The Apology selected for the main curated festival 2021; ADHD and multi-award winning Comedy Master Class.
McIlroy appeared in all 3 Spud movies as Mr Milton – Spuds dad; a host of tv roles including Desmond Dube’s comedy show Karektas on SABC 2.
He has been producing and performing at the NAF for over 30 years. Productions include: The Loser; Abbamaniacs; Marriage for dummies and many more.
Kenny appeared in season 4 and 5 of eTV’s soap opera IMBEWU as dodgy Dr. Wallace and currently SABC 1’s UZALO as shady lawyer “Jean Luc”. Kenny’s audio play, The Tower & The Tree won an Ovation Award in 2020 at the NAF and was invited to stream at The Brighton Fringe Festival UK 2021.
