Vocalist Babalwa Mentjies grew up in Makhanda and performs once again in her home town as a polished composer and a graduate of the UKZN School of Music. She now teaches and gigs in Cape Town and has shared the stage with many of South Africa’s top jazz musicians, including Feya Faku, Neil Gonsalves and Sazi Dlamini and has performed around South Africa and abroad. She presents a selection of loved jazz and South African standards. She will be singing songs from the South African Jazz Real Book and paying tribute to her all-time favourite South African vocalist, the legendary Gloria Bosman’s iconic music.
