Beauty’s Hair Salon

As a hairdresser, Beauty manages to work her magic on every women who walks into her salon, despite navigating the news of her own cancer diagnosis.
This production seeks to explore how beauty is perceived in today’s world by digging deeper into the life of a hairdresser who carries a burden of pain.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Stanley Letebele (Writer & Director) studied drama at Mmabana Foundation and Community Arts Administration and Management at UNW. Letebele has already performed in more than 12 stage productions and has passed through the hands of many respected directors among them: Salaelo Maredi, Ian Van Memerty, Danny Jasson, the late Pogiso Mogwera and Walter Chakela. A well rounded performer, a former drama tutor at Bafokeng Youth Centre, he was part of Motsweding Fm’s Radio show “Takalani Sesame” as ‘Moshe’. Stanley has won awards for acting, story-telling, poetry and public speaking. He directed Bojanala Schools Setworks, produced two films: Neighboring and Ntate Modiri’s nightmare. He also wrote and directed plays such as“Beyond Childlessness” (2009), “Bana Ke Bokamoso” (2010), “Malalapipe” (2016), “The Picture” (2018) “The Wrong Off-Ramp”, (2019) and “African Son” (2022) among others and they all performed at Grahamstown National Arts Festival.

Refiloe Tanke (Stage Manager) is a passionate, creative and self-driven artist who was introduced to drama when she participated in Moses Kotane Schools Setwork project (2021). After she fell in love with theater, she studied performing arts at Puo Media (2021). She coordinated Bothakga Arts Festival (2022) and Lentswe Poetry Festival (2023). After acquiring artistic skills and gained confidence, she now the stage manager of Beauty’s Hair Salon.

Marcia Moloto (Performer) is a recipient of arts developer award from Lethabong Youth Awards, she started acting in 2002 and attended festivals like: Cultural Calabash, Aardklop National festival, Rustenburg Theatre Festival, Stop Crime Drama festival, and Grahamstown National Arts Festival with plays such as Choices, Case 619, Bana Ke Bokamoso, Re-mining our land, The journey, Senzeni, Umphile Umphi Modise, My Heritage, Moments of truth, Malalapipe, African Son among others. She was part of films such as: Neighboring and Ntate Modiri’s nightmare.

Lorraine Mataboge (Performer). Her passion for dancing and acting earned her to be part of Malope The musical later she was given an opportunity to take part in Beauty’s Hair Salon.
