The Maritzburg College Jazz Ensemble is a 7-piece band conducted by Simon Stickells that was recently formed to widen the musical horizons of boys in the Music department.
Conducted by Germaine Leonard, the 5-member George High Jazz Band has been in existence for a number of years and has performed at various events and venues in and around the Eden district. The band taps into a strong aural tradition with strong influences of the church and a focus on Afro/Cape jazz.
The St. Cyprian’s Jazz programme has been running for over 10 years, and the band has performed at various events such as the Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival, the Cape Town City Hall ‘Night of the Stars’, and at the Graduate School of Business Alumni event. The band is a thirteen-piece band conducted by Ross Johnson, with a repertoire that is a groovy combination of swing, funk and South African jazz.
