Zimkhitha Ntebe affectionately known as “Zimsto eRoofini” is a multi-talented artist from Kwa Zakhele in Nelson Mandela Bay. She is a spirited performer who was introduced to music through djembe and dance at traditional ceremonies and church from the tender age of 5 years old. As the mother to a girl child, she is especially passionate about promoting self-love to young woman and uses her creativity to promote this.

Her mission for this project is to share oral traditions and traditional music with children between 8-16, while instilling positive values and keeping these cultural art forms alive against the backdrop of the modern and evolving society.

In the long term, Zimkhitha intends to run the program on an ongoing basis at least twice annually and expose more EC youth to the beauty of the oral traditions she grew up with and the stories she grew up listening to including other peoples experiences.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Often referred to as the new-age kwaito queen, Zimsto eRoofini is a lot more than that. In fact, she is a talented musician who’s proven herself as a genre chameleon time and time again effortlessly moving between genres such as Kwaito, Raggae, and Live music with contemporary jazz elements. Aesthetically Zimsto is the whole package. Her style which she has dubbed, “”Kasi Classy”” is the embodiment of her and therefore a visual homage to her unique sound. often being the music and collaborator with fashion houses such as Roots Creations, VJJ’s Jungle, Cush, and Athi Nwai. A blend of Kwaito, Soul, and Jazz. Best known for her stage performances, which include energetic dance moves and at times multiple quick costume changes. It’s no wonder why she is one of the Eastern Capes’ most sought-after performers. Her signature original compositions such as, “Gabalala” always leave the audience salivating for more.
The stage isn’t the only space Zimsto’s star shines as she is also a trained vocalist and recording artist. Groomed by Jazz Legend, Bongani KoraX Tulwana, and the late Siya Mdebele. Her music ages like a fine wine getting better with every listen. Her singles “Buya Dali Wam” and “Never Change” were released in 2015 but still enjoy airtime on major radio stations such as “Umhlobo Wenene FM”. Today Zimsto can be found polishing her unique African-influenced sound in the studio. On some of the biggest Festival stages entertaining the crowd or social media where she often shares videos of
her performances for her fans to enjoy.
