Mombelli’s Chamber performs the new music of Carlo Mombelli, with Susan Mouton, principal cellist of the JPO, and three renowned jazz musicians. Musicologist David Coplan commented that the ‘concert by Carlo Mombelli & ensemble reminded me why we go on living. Music that is made of time enfolding us in timelessness. The Great Mombelli would have made a good stage hypnotist, but chose music as his medium. Spellbound; no other word for it. No words for what we heard.’ The Jazz Times – the world’s leading jazz periodical – described Mombelli’s playing a while ago as ‘disconcertingly beautiful’ and the US Bass Player Magazine’s view was that ‘once in a while an artist comes along who produces music unlike anything you’ve heard.’
