Nomadic Orchestra is a five-piece instrumental dance band based in Cape Town whose primary performance goal is to get people moving! With their infectious, high-energy dance music even the most prudish find themselves unconsciously tapping their feet. The Nomads play original music composed by members of the band, influenced by traditional music from North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. They are also influenced by Klezmer, gypsy and circus music as well as contemporary western party music though their musical training brings a strong jazz aesthetic to the band and an emphasis on improvisation. They return to the festival, having last attended as young jazz students.
