Mayaluzela sisgiyo (dance song) sika makhulu wam. She would sing this song whenever we had gatherings, asine.

My show is going to be collection of Mpondo music mixed with my original songs, especially the ones co-composed with my father. A celebration of those that came before me.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Zamani is a musician and filmmaker born and raised eMaMpondweni, eMbizana on the South Coast line of the Eastern Cape. At a young age, she learned her musicianship from her father, a multi-instrumentalist and local visual artist. She started her creative career in film between 2011 and 2016 in Johannesburg and Durban working behind the scenes on TV shows such as 90Pl St, Cooking Gospel, Made in SA and others.
Zamani’s passion for music developed particularly in 2018 when she joined the Nelson Mandela University and the music community in Gqeberha where she started performing with a group/band called AfroGroove and some stages at the university. At school that year, she also worked on a collaborative project with and Dizu laatjies as a member of the African Ensemble. She co-founded a band call Mo’Jazrae, where her journey of making music that is not bound by genre began. She also co-founded an Art Collective called ListenLiveAfrika, a platform that was founded to bridge a gap between visual artists, musicians and creating accessible spaces for music, art, collaborations and conversations. through music from the source.

She is a member a dou/band called the Ether, a creation of healing. She has been active in the industry as a performer and art administrator working with Abantu Development Agency and Poeticsoul Louvehouse of entertainment. for Umyalezo Poetry Project and Amanina Creative writing and Storytelling Project and History Reimagined project.

She has performed at the Mandela Bay Theatre Complex, The OneRoom, The Music Kitchen, Black Power Station in Makhanda as well as NAF in 2022 She has formed a band with Songo called Abanengoma which she will be playing with at The Black Power Station Festival in June/July.

Zamani would like to present Zamani accompanied by AbaNengoma Band. This band makes music from the tribes of AmMpondo, amaBhaca namaHlubi for the benefit of the conversation of our languages and music that are going extinct.
