Deadline for 2019 Main programme extended

The closing date for new and established artists to submit proposals for possible inclusion in next year’s Main programme of the National Arts Festival, which will run from 27 June to 7 July 2019, has been extended to 5pm on 31 August.
All proposals received from artists and producers will be reviewed by the Artistic Committee. “The core of our Main Programme is the result of works selected from this open call for submissions by the lead curators for the various disciplines,” explains NAF Executive Producer Ashraf Johaardien. “This is then followed by lengthy process of deliberation and consultation.”
There is no prescribed theme for the Main Programme in 2019. Instead, a collective interrogation of the cross-genre shortlist identified by the curatorial team will guide the Artistic Committee in deciding on a thematic framework, which will be announced when the programme is unveiled.
The other key component of the Festival is the Fringe, an open-access platform of unsolicited works that do not go through a curation process. Applications to be part of the 2019 Fringe will open end October 2018.
